Resurfacing of several roads in Belgravia

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has commenced with road resurfacing of around eight kilometres in various parts of Belgravia. The work started today, and will be conducted between 08:30 and 16:00, Monday to Friday. This will continue until Tuesday, 31 March 2026, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays.

The following Belgravia roads will be resurfaced:

• Denchworth Road – from Belgravia Road to 4th Avenue
• Veld Road – from Belgravia Road to Canal Road
• Pearl Crescent – from Canal Road (HN11) to Pearl Crescent
• 1st Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 2nd Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 3rd Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 4th Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 5th Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 6th Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 7th Avenue – from Veld Road to Klipfontein Service Road
• 8th Avenue – from Voel Street to Adventist Street
• Ruby Crescent – from Canal Road to Canal Road
• Voel Street – from Belgravia Road to HN 62 Voel Street
• Salaam Street – from 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue
• Wilkshire Street – from 2nd Avenue to 7th Avenue
• Adventist Street – from 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue
• Dunster Street – from 4th Avenue to 7th Avenue
• East Avenue – from Klipfontein Service Road to South Avenue
• Ruby Street – from 7th Avenue to 8th Avenue
• Verster Street – from Belgravia Road to 7th Avenue
• Lower Boeschoten Road – from Belgravia Road to 2nd Avenue

‘Over the next few weeks, approximately eight kilometres of roads in the Belgravia area will be resurfaced to make daily travel safer and more comfortable for residents and road users. These improvements will help extend the lifespan of the roads and keep Cape Town moving. The work involves removing the existing road surface and replacing it with new asphalt. Where necessary, additional utility work will be carried out in advance to repair or replace damaged manholes, catchpits, frames and chambers, ensuring a smoother and longer-lasting result,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
